Guava Peach Green Smoothie
Since Christmas it has been very cold in Midwest, especially Chicago. Yes, I am one of those Chicagoans who were lucky to get good cozy weather up until last week of December. Weather being super cold, below zero degree temperature with wind chill in Chicago, every time I step out, I think of warm sunny hot tropical destination. Oh well, we love Chicago, but sometimes you feel like getting away. Speaking of tropical destination, today I thought of drinking my green smoothie with something tropical taste that can help boosting energy and immune power to fight the cold.
I decided to make guava green smoothie with peach, banana and my favorite green kale. Oh yeah, kale is bitter like hell but I love kale in my green smoothies. Trust me, do not get afraid of Kale, it is bitter but with green smoothie recipes, you will never taste the bitter part. My green smoothie recipes ingredient portions will hide the bitterness of Kale.
Guava has unique taste that can vary based on their ripeness. I love guava little sour-n-sweet, so I try to get them accordingly. I prefer to keep seeds in my green smoothie, but if you are not a big fan of seeds then you can pick only very ripe guava and remove seeds before you add it in your green smoothie. Honestly, seeds don’t bother me so I just dice guava in small chunk and add it into blender.
I have used banana to balance out the sour taste of guava and/or peach. It’s tropical fiesta in your smoothie jar!
Based on your blender type you can either start with green Kale first or chunks of fruits. Check out the list of my blender recommendations for making green smoothies. I use Magic bullet to make breakfast smoothie for one person, so I start with one cup of diced guava and add it to make first layer. After that add 1 cup of diced peach, followed by frozen pieces of banana. At last I added 2 packed cups of chopped kale. Finally add 1 cup of water to liquefy all ingredients. You can increase or decrease water measure to achieve your desired thickness of your green smoothie!
This guava green smoothie recipe with peach, banana and kale makes 32oz of green smoothie. Pour it into glass and enjoy the antioxidant loaded, immunity booster green smoothie! If 32oz green smoothie is too much for your then you can either share or store it in refrigerator. Make sure to store your green smoothie in air-tight container, I prefer Mason jar with lid to store extra smoothie. Make sure to drink your leftover smoothie within 24 hours.
I have not used any super food in today’s guava green smoothie recipe, but usually I add chia seeds or almonds to load extra benefits to my breakfast smoothie.
